If YOU were spit on almost every day of your life???
This is a common occurance for Luli here in Greece! She can't go ANYWHERE without people spitting on her. But don't worry it's out of love! The Greeks believe this spitting protects the babies against the evil eye (devil). That's why they spit on brides and just anyone beautiful. Luli gets spit on in the market, at the bakery, at the farmer's market by the woman selling leeks, by different visitors at Oresti's parents' house, and by complete strangers in the street!
But never fear, Mama is always standing by with the baby wipes!
